News & Updates » Car Seat Safety- Proper installation is key

infant in car seat

According to the most recent issue of Consumer Reports, most infant car seats did not perform adequately in more severe crash tests performed by the Consumers Union. While this is alarming parents and pediatricians, The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) suggests that car safety seats should be used on every car trip nonetheless.

One of the reasons why car seats may not function well in an accident is due to an incorrect installation or wrong fit for a specific car or child. Understanding the proper use of your particular car seat or seats will help to alleviate any problems that can occur during an impact. The following link will take you to the AAP car seat guide. The guide does an excellent job of explaining the proper use of various types of car seats.
